MCA Proficiency In Medical First Aid
The Proficiency in Medical First Aid course is presented over a 4 night period of professional instruction. The course contains both theoretical & practical elements and is required by the MCA for MCA Chief Mate (Yachts Less than 3000gt).
The proficiency of medical first aid course aims to improve the officer’s knowledge in order to take charge of medical care on board ship.
Candidates who have not had recent first aid training should undertake additional personal study and review before commencing the course.
It should be noted that the master, or the person in charge of medical care, on board an EU member state flagged vessel are required to undertake refresher training in medical care at least every five years.
